Root Canal Treatment at Dr Smithas Dental Center, Coimbatore

  • Root canals are performed when the decay progresses to the inner most layer of the tooth, where the nerve and blood supply of the tooth is present. The roots as well as crown portion of the tooth are filled.
  • Severe Toothache, sensitivity, swelling, pimple on the gum or discolorations are indications that you may need a root canal dentist.
  • It is a safest way to retain the natural tooth and restore it in form and function. Most root canal procedures are performed as a single sitting.
  • If you do not get the root canal treatment done, you may find the pain dies down. This means that the infection has spread and caused the nerve to decay.Eventually the tooth becomes weak and may fracture. The filling material called Gutta-percha is coated with a medicament and canal is sealed completely till the root.
  • Alternate treatment would be extraction and artificial replacement of the tooth by way of Implants, Dental bridges or dentures.

How painful it is?

  • Root canal therapy is not painful and can save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted. It has become a seamless procedure as technology has advanced.
